New York State DEC Walleye Regulations for Lake Ontario

Open Season: 1st Saturday in May - March 15th the next year

Daily Creel Limit: 3 walleye per day per person

Minimum Size: 18" (inches)

Maximum Possession Limit: 2 day limit - 6 walleye per person

A valid New York State fishing license is required for both resident and non-resident anglers 16 years or older.

Non-Resident and Resident License Costs

One (1) day - $15.00

Seven (7) day - $25.00

Season - $40.00

License cost - Resident

Seven (7) day - $12.00

Season - $19.00

Non-residents may obtain licenses ahead of time by phone with your VISA or MASTERCARD from the NYSDEC office by calling (518) 457-8862 (have your personal information ready)

Non-residents traveling north on Route I-81 may obtain licenses 24 hours a day in person at the Mobil express Mini-Mart off I-81 at Exit 32 (Central Square, NY) 20 minutes south of Pulaski Exit 36.
